By Maciek Peter Kozlowski — UK Artist of the Year, 2017
Edition of 100 in this size, numbered and recorded. Signed, with a certificate of authenticity. Framed in white wood, ready to hang. Printed to order on fine art, museum-grade matte paper. Ships to Canada and the US.
Numbers are allocated in the order they are claimed. Yours is recorded against your name and never reissued — the low numbers go first, and they do not come back.
On the horizon, just before the falls, an exceptionally tall family is crossing the river. They must step carefully on the slippery rocks. One slipped on the branches at the riverbank, but all is well. They will soon be on the other side, following the high afternoon sun.
The stems were the key to these paintings. A brush made them too heavy and too deliberate, so I thinned the paint, gathered it on a paint-stirring stick, and flicked it onto the canvas. The stems arrived through movement rather than being drawn — which is why the family reads as mid-step rather than posed.
