Winter and spring took turns reigning on the flood plains of the Ottawa River near the Deschênes rapids in the long spring of 2023. It was like watching two old rivals politely take turns—one offering sunlight and melt, the other tugging the temperature back below freezing just to prove a point.
This piece came out of that standoff. When the sun hit just right, the meltwater would turn into glass—mirroring the trees above and catching the last fire of the orange sky. And then, as dusk fell, the light would shift again: snow turned a deep, luminous blue, and the water lit up purple like it had something to say.
There was no need to exaggerate. Nature was already pushing the palette beyond what logic would allow. All I had to do was follow it. Orange Reflections on the Still Water on the Flood Plain is what happens when you let a season speak for itself—layered, reflective, and unhurried.
This one’s for the collector who knows how to wait. Best hung where the light moves during the day—so you can watch it change just like the land did.

Floats the Metal LTD Print 3/4 inch off the wall when hung.
Printed directly onto a mid-gloss aluminum panel, this limited-edition artwork arrives ready to hang with a discreet 3/4-inch inset mount that lets it float slightly away from the wall. There is no frame, glass, or matting needed, so you get rich colour, no distracting reflections, and a clean contemporary finish. The surface catches light beautifully as you move past it, especially in the water and shifting sky.
Ready for hanging without a frame.
